Why is Cedar appearing on my billing statement? Who can I contact if I have questions about my bill?

Cedar handles payment processing on behalf of your healthcare provider. As a result, credit card companies and financial institutions may display Cedar on your statement, as opposed to the name of your healthcare provider. Cedar does forward the name of the healthcare provider to your credit card company or financial institution. So, you may see the Cedar charge on your statement updated with your healthcare provider’s name a few days after it first appears on your statement.

Am I paying Cedar, or am I paying my healthcare provider?

Even though you may see Cedar’s name on your statement, your payment is passed directly to your healthcare provider. Cedar does not deduct any amount of your payment during processing.

Does Cedar charge a fee to patients?

No. Cedar does not charge patients fees to process any type of payment.

Is my Cedar charge legitimate?

Yes. If you have additional questions about your bill please contact the healthcare provider from whom you received a bill.

How did Cedar get my credit card or personal information?

All payment information is provided by the patient during the payment process. Cedar uses secure tokenization and encryption solutions to capture credit card, bank account, and other personal information. We never store or transmit unencrypted data.

Is Cedar secure?

How do I know which doctor or hospital my charge is coming from?

Each payment is accompanied by a receipt that can be delivered via email. The receipt is delivered at the time of payment and copies can be generated at any time by your healthcare provider. If you don’t recall the visit or provider the charge is associated with, we recommend checking your previous Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) from your insurance company.

I see a charge on my bill from another unfamiliar entity in relation to my provider visit? Is that part of Cedar as well?

It’s likely that this charge is from a physician staffing group. Healthcare providers sometimes partner with clinical services providers for physician staffing, and Cedar does handle payment processing on behalf of these groups. If you received care from one of these physicians, you will be billed by the staffing group.
