Cedar announces Aaron Zollman as chief information security officer, accelerating leading security program

With the announcement of Zollman as CISO, Cedar advances its security program designed to maintain provider trust and safeguard patient data.

Cedar, a patient billing and engagement platform, today announced that Aaron Zollman, a security expert with extensive financial services and government experience, has joined the company as Chief Information Security Officer. In his role, Zollman is responsible for the protection of Cedar’s platform, data and operations.

Security has quickly become top of mind in healthcare in recent years, as medical data is highly sought after among hackers for its use in committing identity theft. According to Experian, patient records can each command a $1000 price tag on the dark web, compared to just a few cents for credit card numbers.

“Cedar takes compliance very seriously and is fully HIPAA and HITRUST certified. But we recognize that in the current threat environment compliance alone is not enough. We are building a modern security program structured around the latest threats and technology that builds security into the core of our platform,” said Zollman.

Zollman comes to Cedar with over two decades of experience in both offensive and defensive cyber security within technology companies, financial services and the government. Most recently, he served as the Director of Security Incubation at MUFG Bank and as a Security Architect at Bridgewater Associates. He previously led product and implementation engineering teams at Palantir Technologies and Endgame, and began his career at the Department of Defense.
