Central Government
Challenges

Central government organisations are continually being challenged to achieve greater efficiency, visibility, accountability and increased levels of services to its customers. Over the years, the public sector as a whole has seen a number of initiatives and targets being set to increase efficiency, collaboration and improve the value of its services to its customer base through initiatives such as eGovernment and the Gershon Efficiency Reviews.

Transformation

Further to the above, Transformational Government, Service Transformation Agreement (SRA) and the publishing of CSR07 in October 2007 have also identified key challenges and targets to be achieved by central government organisations, including the ability to achieve further levels of efficiency by 2010 and faster and more effective service.

Improving efficiency

To achieve this, central government organisations will have to achieve greater efficiency utilising technology as the enabler for achieving 'best practice' both on an individual organisation basis and through further collaboration. Technology, more so than ever, will provide the basis on which central government organisations can exploit shared services and further collaboration between government departments and also across regional public sector organisations. When looking at achievement of CSR07 and the deficit to make up in funding, the whole question of implementation of collaboration or shared services is no longer a matter of 'if', but 'when'.

At COA Solutions, we recognise that technology alone does not transform government and achievement of the targets set out through the SRA and CSR07. However, central government organisations cannot make the transformation to meet those efficiency, collaboration and service targets without it.

Maximising benefit from technology

At COA Solutions, we strive to assist this reform through the use of technology - creating and retaining the capability to innovate and use technology effectively to deliver improved services, whilst achieving cost savings and gains through greater efficiencies and collaboration.
